Evening vs. Morning vs. Weekend Driving Classes — Which Fits Your Schedule?
By Circle Driving School — Silver Spring, MD
Circle Driving School offers three ways to complete the required 30 hours of classroom driver education. Here's an honest comparison to help you choose the right one.
What all three have in common
Regardless of which format you choose:
- All three are MVA-certified and satisfy Maryland's classroom requirement
- All three include the same curriculum — traffic laws, road signs, safe driving practices
- All three qualify your student for the 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training that follow
- All three are taught or supervised by Mr. Mekonnen
The differences are format, schedule, and price.
Evening Online Classes — $400
Format: Online (live or recorded, from home) Schedule: Monday through Friday evenings Duration: 30 hours total, spread across multiple sessions
Best for:
- Teens with daytime commitments (school sports, jobs, other activities)
- Families who prefer learning from home
- Students who need flexible pacing
What to expect: Students log in from any device. Sessions cover the same Maryland-mandated content as in-person classes. Online format requires self-discipline — students need a quiet space and the ability to focus without an in-room instructor.
Pros: Most flexible, no commute, can review material at your own pace Cons: Requires more self-motivation, less face-to-face interaction
Morning In-Person Classes — $400
Format: In-person at Circle Driving School's Silver Spring office Address: 8115 Fenton St, Suite 202, Silver Spring, MD 20910 Schedule: Monday through Friday mornings Duration: 30 hours total
Best for:
- Students who learn better in a structured classroom setting
- Teens who benefit from being able to ask questions directly
- Students with open mornings (homeschool, early-dismissal schedules)
What to expect: Small class sizes, direct instruction from Mr. Mekonnen or a certified instructor, group discussion and interactive learning. In-person students often report higher engagement and better retention.
Pros: Direct instruction, immediate Q&A, structured environment Cons: Fixed location and schedule, requires transportation to Silver Spring
This is our most popular format for students who want the full classroom experience.

Weekend Classes — $400
Format: In-person at Circle Driving School's Silver Spring office Schedule: Saturdays and Sundays Duration: 30 hours total, compressed into weekend sessions
Best for:
- Students whose weekday schedule is completely full
- Teens who want to complete their education faster
- Working adults getting their first Maryland license
What to expect: Same in-person format as morning classes, but scheduled over weekends. Longer session blocks mean faster completion — some students finish in 3–4 weekends instead of spreading out over several weeks.
Pros: Fastest completion, doesn't conflict with school days Cons: Longer individual sessions require more focus in one sitting

After classroom — what comes next
Once your teen completes classroom instruction, they move on to 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training with a Circle instructor. This is scheduled separately through our BTW lesson packages.
After classroom + BTW, your teen can schedule their road test at White Oak MVA. Circle Driving School provides the car and instructor for the test — no need to bring your own vehicle.
